Happy Birthday, Dad!

As many of us are in our 70s and beyond, we don’t hear much discussion about previous generations — even about our parents. Mine have played a significant role in my development just as your parents have in yours.

Today, I want to honor and remember my wonderful dad, Clarence Paul Steiner. Today is my dad’s birthday. He taught me so many things and prepared me for life as much as he could. He was a great father and a precious supporting husband to my mom. Sadly, his time on earth was cut short when he was just 55 years old.  If he were alive today (though it’s nearly incomprehensible to many of today’s young people) Dad would be 123 years old. Nevertheless, I want to honor my dad and remember him today.

“Honor your father and your mother which is the first commandment with a promise. So that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth” ~~ Ephesians 6:2-3.

“For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother’” ~~ Matthew 15:4a.

“Hear, my son, your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching; indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head and ornaments about your neck” ~~ Proverbs 1:8-9.
