The Choices We Make

Most people live by some sort of moral code. They may not call themselves Christians, but most in our culture still know right from wrong. Most will choose to do what is right.

When we become Christians, our spirits become alive in Christ, our Savior. As He becomes our Lord, His Holy Spirit further changes us, so that we no longer want (nor allow our flesh) to make bad choices. It’s the old battle of our spirit versus our flesh. And we desire to have the mind of Christ. But we can’t change ourselves of our own accord. That would be trying to do it in the flesh.

When the Lord speaks to us in our hearts we make choices every day. We say “YES” to the things of God, and hopefully “NO” to things of the enemy. And in choosing God’s plan, we have peace in our hearts.

So, if you’ve been going down the wrong path, and saying “YES” to the wrong things  — things that are displeasing to the Lord — you have an opportunity right now to repent, turn around, say “NO” to what is wrong, and then trust Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

“If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. On the other hand, if we admit our sins— simply come clean about them— He won’t let us down; He’ll be true to Himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing. If we claim that we’ve never sinned, we out-and-out contradict God—make a liar out of Him. A claim like that only shows off our ignorance of God”~~1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭MSG‬‬
