The Bible clearly states that Jesus Christ will forgive every sin when people are truly repentant and ask for forgiveness — putting their faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord. And YET, Jesus does say that there is one sin that Father God can never forgive — not in this world nor in eternity. Those who commit this sin will be lost and doomed forever! God would not doom them, they will doom themselves by their words or even serious thoughts. So, if God can forgive the sin of murder and all heinous acts a person can imagine, what is this UNPARDONABLE SIN ? Do you know what it is? It’s BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT! So, you ask, “What is that?”
We know that no person can come to God unless God’s Holy Spirit draws him or her. People do not decide to become Christians without the Holy Spirit’s wooing them; because God loves everyone.
However, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit will not always strive with man. There comes a point such that if a person tells God to “get lost!” or for God’s Spirit to “Leave me alone!” The Holy Spirit will agree and never again draw that person to salvation. How horrible a thought! Only doom, destruction, and a fearful future meeting with God as Judge only to hear Him say, “Depart from Me you rebellious worker of iniquity.”
A persistent and willful rejection of God’s grace and the Holy Spirit’s work will lead to a hardened heart and inability to ever repent.
“I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This sin has eternal consequences” ~~ Mark 3:28-29.
“If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it” ~~ 1 John 5:16.
The good news is that “If we confess our sin, He is faithful, and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” ~~ 1 John 1:9.
