“In ministry, your character will be tested more than your competency ever will be.” ~~ quote from Carey Neiuwhof
I have found it to be so true. And we have seen the horrible consequences of ministers whose character flaws have caught up with them.
I learned 45 years ago to protect my character (to guard my heart) at all costs. . . To avoid ALL appearances of evil. In order to be a godly minister we walk humbly and in step with our God. We develop listening skills for the voice of our conscience (which is the Holy Spirit) helping us to choose wisely and avoid traps of the enemy.
My end goal is to hear my Savior and Lord say of me and to me: “Well done, you good and faithful servant. Enter into your eternal reward.”
“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out” ~~ Proverbs 10:9.
“Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals’” ~~ 1 Corinthians 15:33.
