Victory In Christ

Let us delve into the profound significance of the name and title:  “Jesus Christ.”

The word “Christ” embodies the divine essence of the Son of God, while “Jesus” signifies His humanity. We address our prayers to Jesus because as a man, He offered our salvation.

Jesus, in His human form, represents the power of Father God. He is the embodiment of His Father’s divine power, known as “The Word.”

Before His earthly incarnation, Christ existed as the eternal Son of God. He has always been and will always be Christ, the Son of God. In the Old Testament, Christ manifested as “The Word of the Lord.” He communicated with individuals like Samuel in this manner. This is why John chapter 1:14 proclaims, “and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

Upon His arrival in the world, Jesus declared, “Since Your ultimate desire was not another animal sacrifice, You have clothed Me with a body that I may offer Myself in place of it! Multiple burnt offerings and sin offerings cannot satisfy Your justice. Therefore, I said to You, ‘God, I will be the One to go and do Your Will, to fulfill all that is written about Me in Your Word!’” (Hebrews 10:5, TPT).

Jesus emphasized, “I merely do what I see the Father do.” (John 5:19)

The name “Jesus Christ” signifies the Son of God’s human name (Son of Man) as our Savior. “Christ,” on the other hand, represents the Anointed Heavenly Deity and Son of God. Together, these two names imply that Jesus is both the Son of Man and the eternal Son of God.
