Clean Up Your Act

A friend of mine teaches from 1 Corinthians 3.

“The apostle Paul is constantly trying to teach the Corinthian church to get their act together — to clean up their lives — to repent of that which is wrong and purify themselves by burning away the chaff… the verses that explain this process are in verses 1 — 15. Paul is writing to the Corinthians and saying ‘you guys are babies — and living like you are not even born again. You have envy, strife, and divisions… This is wood, hay, and stubble — carnality. You guys need to repent and grow up so that your lives produce gold, silver, and precious stones — as it were.

“Nevertheless, if you carry these carnal, fleshly, worldly things into death and you stand before the Lord, this wood, hay, and stubble in your life will be burned away; yet you yourself will be saved (verse 15) — but as though you were pulled out of and came through the fire.

What the Lord wants is for us to get rid of these carnal things now and live holy lives full of the Spirit and the Fire of God. In so doing we will have the overcoming life of God, and His fire will purify those things we need to get rid of. If you love the Lord but you know you are not being purified by Him, allow His fire to change you. You will be eternally blessed for it.”  ~~ edited from John Fenn’s teaching
