Have You Read Your Bible Today?

As a boy my parents taught me the importance of reading the Bible daily. I can’t say that I always followed their advice, but as a freshman at Oral Roberts University I gained a new appreciation for Bible reading.

Then in 1986, while serving as a media minister, the congregation was challenged with the opportunity of reading through the Bible every year. . . I accepted that challenge, and thankfully have now read completely through the Bible 40 times. Giving time daily to reading and meditating upon the Word of God is my number one daily priority. But with work responsibilities, social media, and hobbies such as watching sports on TV, many have misplaced that priority.  Nothing is wrong with any of those choices unless, of course, we haven’t read our Bible first. I love reading my Bible for it is during this time of day I commune with Father God — listening His voice — as He most often does through His Word.

Now, I am not chastising anyone; but here are a few Bible verses to encourage you today.

“Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.” ~~ Psalms 27:14

“I have hidden Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You, God” ~~ Psalms 119:11.

“…present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of truth” ~~ 2 Timothy 2:15.

Then… if anyone asks you, “Have you read your Bible today? You can say, “Yes!”
