Sweet Sleep for Christians

When I pray for folks over the phone, more than once I have encountered those who have trouble falling asleep. These are believers like you and I. So what’s the issue?

Most of them, either have pain in their body, anxiety about things they have no control over, a mind that races and will not stop, or occasionally a heart issue such as AFIB. Some regularly take sleep medicine that no longer works.

Once or twice I’ve encountered folks who have had bad dreams or feel attacked by the enemy and are in a spiritual warfare where they feel a need to pray for a while, and it keeps them up for hours.

As I pray for them, I remind them that the Lord wants to give them perfect peace and sweet sleep.  There is a saying: Let go, and let God.  I pray that you have a peaceful night’s sleep tonight and every night…

“The Lord Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” ~~ Hebrews 13:5.

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet” ~~ Proverbs 3:24.

God “gives to his beloved sleep” ~~ Psalms 127:2.

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety” ~~ Psalms 4:8.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” ~~ Matthew 11:28.
