It is important that we continue to trust the Lord and His promised angelic covering daily to keep us in ALL of our ways. The Bible says we should not fear for what can man do to us?
God has strengthened me over the years in various situations such as job losses and even Kathy’s passing. I learned to depend upon Him more than ever. The Apostle Paul says in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
I’ve learned to endure persecution as a child as I was bullied in school and in my neighborhood simply for being a Christian. I was too immature to defend myself or even to know what to do in response, yet I knew God would protect me… so I persevered in through these trials. James says we are blessed when we endure and stand the test (James 1:12).
Over time my faith grew so that I could trust God that He always knows best. Even though sometimes when I would try to work things out without the Lord’s help or guidance I discovered the results usually were that things didn’t work out very well for me. I had to surrender to God’s will and perfect plan, even in the struggle.
As a minister, these times gave me greater compassion for others so that I could minister to them in their challenges. And we find this in Colossians 3:12: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” The apostle Paul said that he has learned to be content when things go well or when things were disastrous. The difficult times I have faced made me appreciate my blessings throughout my life. Paul writes about it this way: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
