Victory In Christ

I think that one of the most amazing, wonderful gifts that the Lord gives us this side of heaven’s glory is the gift of people. He gives friends to walk beside us in good times in bad … in rejoicing and in weeping… in the calm and in the storm. He gives us people to laugh with … to cry with … to grow with … and to worship with… people who care!

He gives us childhood friends … and high school friends … and cousins … and college roommates … and friends that surprise us during the adult years. Each friend … from each season in life is a treasure.

I used to think it was amazing if you could say that you had five good friends throughout your life … and that is amazing. But I have been blessed with so many more than five solid friendships over the years.

I have friends who are women and men … who are younger than I am and older than I am … and some who are the same age.

I have church friends … and friends who are the parents of my kids’ friends … and brand new friends. But some of my dearest friends are those from many years ago who have stood with me throughout most of my life.

There have been seasons in which we have lost touch … but as soon as we reconnect … it is like we have never been apart.

I have friends who believe the same way I do … who have similar interests … and who enjoy the same music and activities as I do. MAnd then … I have friends who are extremely different than I am … who vote differently, eat differently and spend their money differently. And yet … we are still friends. Close friends. Dear friends.
