We in the body of Christ are to serve and help each other. For in 1 Corinthians 12:12 we read, “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” Therefore each believer plays a vital role in the functioning of the Church. As we use our God—given gifts and abilities, the Church body grows and becomes more effective.
Galatians 6:2 further encourages us to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” The love of God becomes evident as we nurture and support one another.
Jesus came to serve mankind. And as we serve each other, the Body is built up in love. We see this in Ephesians 4:16: “From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” Then the entire body flourishes. I pray God uses me to an even greater degree to support and grow the fellowship of believers in my sphere of influence.
