Abundantly Blessed

Growing up, my family wasn’t “rich.” I wouldn’t even consider myself “middle class” after Dad died. But I learned how to play chess, I had a valuable coin and postage stamp collection, baseball cards,… learned to play trumpet, and was in the marching band, took piano and organ lessons, later sang in choirs and quartets. I learned how to save my money. I was encouraged to take on odd jobs even as a a pre-teen … raking leaves, mowing grass, chopping ice from sidewalks, recycling newspapers, being a Cub Scout, learning how to swim, how to serve others, how to witness for Christ and actually doing it. Our family traveled by train to see many parts of the country; and I therefore had no fear of the unknown… we visited the zoos and museums in several cities, attended the state fair… was definitely encouraged and motivated by my single mom to attend college and graduate… and I did. I pursued my life goals and allowed God to direct my steps, to marry the girl of my dreams, to raise up children in the ways of God…so that each generation would be more productive and better than the previous one. For all of this, I give God the glory. It’s all because of Him, the intelligence He gave us, the motivation, and infilling of the Holy Spirit. I gave Him praise.

Many of my life’s goals have been different from those born into wealth. Thus far I’ve never been rich in the world’s goods. But I am wealthy, because my Father owns the Cattle on a Thousand Hills. Our inheritance is in Christ!

Psalms 50:10 in the Bible reads, “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.”

“Godliness with contentment is great gain” ~~ 1 Timothy 6:6.
