— From My Friend Pastor Bob Rodgers in Louisville, Kentucky

After pastoring full-time for 34 years, this is what I know. It definitely isn’t for the faint of heart or those easily offended. It’s a 60+ hour work week, and it’s a commitment of putting people and ministry before yourself and your family at times. I’ve missed sleep, birthdays, anniversaries, vacations and holidays because of serving as a pastor. However, I’m no longer ‘pastoring’ a church but I still work hard in the ministry. So, here’s what I want this post to be about; not me AT ALL!
“You probably have a pastor who works hard and serves even harder— a person who has missed everything I’ve described. And October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Go out of your way to bring your best gift and bless your pastor or minister with a special love gift, a gift card, flowers, or something beautiful from your heart. Let it be your special way of letting your pastor know that he or she are Loved, Honored, and Supported by you and your family. If your church is doing something collectively, then be a part of that. God honors us in a special way when we honor those He’s called to serve us. Bless Your Pastor; You’ll Be Glad You Did!”
