Brothers With Jesus

After Jesus’ resurrection, He no longer called his people disciples, He called them brothers.

“But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:43-45, NASB, 1995)

Though we consider ourselves to be “bond-slaves to Christ”, yet we choose Him as our Lord, and we live in His love. Romans 12:1 tells us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God, as it is our “reasonable service of worship.” We are now in His family! We are Jesus’ friend and brother. (John 15:14-15).

We Christians consider Jesus to be our  “Brother” because, through faith and adoption into God’s family, we have become spiritual children having the same Father. Jesus is the “firstborn among many brothers” (Romans 8:29).
