It’s Christmastime

It’s Christmas week once again! Yay! — the time we celebrate Jesus’ birth. Who is He? God’s only Son — Emmanuel — God with us!

Jesus chose to come to earth by being born in a stable — the lowliest of circumstances. Joseph and Mary wrapped Jesus in swaddling clothes not kingly robes. They laid Him in a stone feeding trough. We all know the story — and how at the young age of 32, Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross to bear the penalty of our sin.

No matter what you think of your existence or present usefulness on this earth, as a Believer — a born-again Christian, Emmanuel lives in you. You are truly born again and made new! Jesus gave you His Spirit. Old things are passed away, and now you are a new creation in Christ! In between the Bible pages of Jesus’ birth, His death, resurrection, and Ascension back to Heaven, in the Book of Acts 10:38 Luke recounts “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (NLT).

We, too, have that same power and authority — all because Jesus came to earth. He is our pattern and example. He is the firstborn of many brethren.

When Jesus said in Luke 2:49 “I must be about My Father’s business,” He was not referring to Joseph, but to His Heavenly Father.

In John 5:19, Jesus said that He could do nothing except what He saw His Father doing. Thanks to Jesus, not only are we saved, we have His love and compassion, and we have become the Lord’s ministers. Hallelujah!

“Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation” ~~ 2 Cor. 5:18 (CSB)
