So many Christians think that the whole thing about “receiving Jesus as your Savior” is so that when you die, you go to Heaven. And sure, that’s a part of it, because Jesus did say that He is preparing our home for us for when we die to be with Him in Heaven.
But the greater purpose for salvation is for the Lord to reconcile us to Him while we are yet in our earth bodies. For we are born in sin, and we need The Savior — Christ Jesus, our Lord to wash away sin, make us brand new, then fill us with His Spirit. Now Christ lives inside of each of us, and we are now God’s ambassadors here on the Earth.
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, Who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, ‘Come back to God!’” ~~ 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 (NLT).
“The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit” ~~ Romans 14:17.
The Christmas season is about Jesus Christ, God’s gift to humanity, Who paid for our sin — once and for all — through His suffering and death at Calvary, for all who would believe in Him — reconciling us back to God. Now there is no more separation from God due to sin — and God now makes His dwelling within us. Hallelujah. And so now we are ambassadors of this message here on earth.
Yes, when we pass away, we will go to be with Jesus in Heaven. But then eventually we will all come back to earth along with Jesus Christ Who literally will rule and reign as the Righteous King of all the Earth for 1000 years. And we will continue to be His representatives.
“God did this because he wanted you Gentiles to understand his wonderful and glorious mystery. And the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God’s glory” ~~ Colossians 1:27 (CEV).
“Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years” ~~ Revelation 20:6.
