Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus and Christ have separate meanings.

Christ is the preexisting second person of the trinity, God the Son. The word “Christ” used in the Bible places emphasis upon His Deity and Eternal Godhead.

“Jesus” signifies His humanity. We pray, in the Name of Jesus as we recognize Him as the perfect sacrifice for sin, sickness, and disease — the price He paid with His suffering and crucifixion. We don’t pray in the Name of Christ.  It was the Man Jesus Who purchased our salvation.

In the Old Testament when we read that “the Word of the Lord” came to people such as Samuel and Isaiah, it refers to an appearance of Christ, the Lord.

In Philippians 2:5-6 we read that He – Christ Jesus, the eternal Son of God – “did not think it to be robbery to be equal with God. “He took upon Himself the form of mankind – as a servant. Therefore, God exalted Jesus (verses 9 & 10). So Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary. In Luke 1:34-35, the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her and the Thing born of her should be named Jesus – making this Holy Child the Son of God.

Now we as believers are to have the “minds of Christ” not the mind of Jesus. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God the Father interceding for us. Christ is in us! Not Jesus.

I hope this explains the differences.
