It’s Valentine’s Day

The 14th is known as Valentine’s Day! — the day St. Valentine was martyred centuries ago. Allegedly he wrote his girlfriend a note right before his demise addressing it “To My Valentine.”

But when a couple loves each other, in my book, every day should be Valentine’s Day. Kathy and I were married for 50 + years. And we dated for five years before that — all through college. We had a timeless love. Our life was based on sacrificial covenant love, not the expected outward expressions of this special day once a year. Though we celebrated like most people, do with candy and red roses. It is one thing to profess an undying love at the altar, but quite another to live life committed to stay together through good times and bad. We were one!

I am so thankful I chose Kathy as my wife, and though she is gone from us for a while, I am thankful for the precious memories we shared. Happy Valentine’s Day in Heaven, my love!

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her” ~~ Ephesians 5:25.
