Cleansed From Sin

When confronted with personal sin, we all need to recognize that according to Psalms 51:1-4, 7, 9 our lives need to be totally cleansed from it. Even though King David was a man after God’s own heart, he also had been a murderer. Moses was, too. Now look at King David’s cry to God as he prayed that his sin would be purged and totally erased: “Against you O God have I sinned”… “Blot out my transgressions” … “Wash me thoroughly” … “Cleanse me from my sins” … “Wash me and I will be whiter than snow” … “Hide Your face, God, from my sins” … “Blot out my iniquities” …

And today because Jesus, God’s Son paid the penalty for sin (for our original sin, for sins of omission, and sins of commission); and when we repent and receive His forgiveness, we become thoroughly cleansed, for

“It’s not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life” ~~ Titus 3:5-7.
