As many of you know, the Lord brought Kathy into my life during my junior year at ORU. From the beginning, she was deeply called to teach. After graduating, she taught elementary school in the Tulsa area, then left her position following our honeymoon so we could move to Dallas—where God opened the door for her to thrive teaching in a Dallas inner-city elementary school.
After Joy and Justin were born and we moved to Lakewood, Colorado, Kathy resumed teaching at Riverview Christian Academy. Later, she taught at Faith Christian Academy in Arvada, focusing mainly on language and math. When we returned to Tulsa in 1999, she joined Victory Christian School, where she was honored in Who’s Who Among American Educators and named Teacher of the Year. In all, she devoted 33 years to education, marked by self-sacrifice, excellence, and genuine love for her students.
Beyond her career, Kathy was my beloved wife of over 50 years and the devoted mother of our two precious children. Though she has been in Heaven nearly three years already, we still miss her deeply. Today, on her earthly birthday, I honor Kathy’s life, her legacy, and the joy and love she brought to us all.
