Passing the Torch

I’m not planning on going anywhere soon, but I sense in my spirit that, one by one, the “old guard”— the seasoned generals of the faith — are passing their torch and anointing to the next generation. We’re reminded of Elisha receiving the mantle of his mentor Elijah (2 Kings 2:9–15). In the same way, the next generation will rise — “standing on our shoulders” as it were — and walk in an even greater anointing. God is pouring out fresh oil of the Spirit to continue what He has already begun in us.

This is not be a time for mourning but for rejoicing. God is preparing and positioning those who will step into spiritual leadership with renewed strength and responsibility. There will be new methods, a fresh anointing, and greater victories ahead.

As I said at the outset, I’m not going anywhere soon. But we are praying for the next generation of godly leaders — that they would be filled with wisdom, courage, and boldness to lead, to preach, and to teach.

You’ve heard of the “praying grandmothers” who stood in the gap for generations. Now it is time for the next generation to rise and take up the mantle of intercession.
