The Word Fast

Today I share a few lines from a book written by my longtime ORU friend – Tim Cameron – titled

“The Forty Day Word Fast”

“Complaining disconnects our communication with the Lord. It’s akin to taking a pair of snips and cutting a telephone cable cleanly into two pieces. No signal can transmit to the Lord. He doesn’t hear our prayers.”

I write this NOT that I sense that you or anyone in particular is complaining…  but as an admonition for us all. As for myself I endeavor to “fast” such words, griping, sarcasm, blaming, fretting, and worrying…Instead I choose to praise God and trust Him as I walk by faith.

No matter what a day may bring, I no longer ask God “Why me?” But rather “What do You want to teach me through this?” It’s more a matter of my crying “Help me, Lord! I trust You! Even in this.

“where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD! ~~ Psalms 121:1b.
