God created mankind to walk with Him in His authority. Though people have free will, many surrender that authority to the devil through deception and temptation, allowing evil such as abuse, violence, and war to spread in the earth.
But God has given believers authority to carry out His will. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to resist the enemy, pray, and stand in agreement with God’s purposes. Our prayers matter. Sometimes one prayer may be the very thing that opens the door for God to move in someone’s life.
Scripture reminds us that all power and authority ultimately belong to God and exist for His purposes (Colossians 1:16–17). When we pray, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10), we are agreeing that God’s ways are best and inviting His will to be accomplished in the earth.
