Victory In Christ

God gave the Mosaic Law to reveal sin (Romans 3:19; 7:7). As James 2:10 teaches, breaking one command makes a person guilty under the whole Law.

That is the nature of legalism—it focuses on failures, not faithfulness.

Perhaps you had strict parents or attended a church where performance was emphasized and mistakes were magnified. Legalism rarely notices what is right; it focuses on what is wrong. You may faithfully serve, give, and seek to live a holy life, yet be condemned for one failure or missed expectation.

Like strict parents or performance-driven religion,  legalism overlooks what is right and magnifies what is wrong. The Law shows our need for God, but it cannot justify us. As Galatians 3:11-12 says, “the law is not of faith.” Legalism produces condemnation; faith in Christ produces peace.

Thank God for His grace. In Christ, we are free from legalism and live by faith.

“God saved you by hHis grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” ~~ Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT).
