The New Testament teaches us that Jesus Christ is more than our Savior and Lord. He is the fulfillment of prophecies, He is our High Priest and advocate with Father God, and He is the King — One who demands our obedience to His teachings.
PROPHET
“Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever He tells you” ~~ Acts 3:5 (ESV).
PRIEST
“For there is one God, and there is one mediator (priest) between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” ~~ 1 Timothy 2:5.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” ~~ John 14:6.
KING
“The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all” ~~ Psalms 103:19.
“On His robe and on His thigh He has this Name written: King of kings and Lord of lords” ~~ Revelation 19:16.
“His kingdom will never end” ~~ Luke 1:33b.
The following are two of my favorite verses: “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have One Who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” ~~ Hebrews 4:14-16.
Jesus Christ perfectly fills all three roles simultaneously: He is the Prophet, Priest, and King through which all the peoples of the world are blessed. Let’s worship our King and thank Him for being our Advocate with Father God.
