Many Christians know they have been born again, yet they also recognize that something within them still needs to change. They love God but they struggle with old attitudes, fears, habits, and ways of thinking. This simply is evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work because God loves us.
The Spirit Who gave us new life is also committed to transforming us. He lovingly exposes what does not resemble Christ, not to condemn us, but to conform us to His image.
But please don’t settle for the comforting words, “You’re saved, and that’s enough.” Salvation is indeed glorious, but God has called us to much more than simply reaching heaven. He has called us to grow, mature, and become like Jesus Christ, His Son.
We in Christ’s Body are being built together until we reach “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13). Spiritual maturity is God’s purpose for every believer.
God is preparing a mature Church that reflects the character of Christ and carries His life to the world. The new birth began your journey. Transformation is the lifelong work that follows. So, yield to His work. Trust His Spirit. Rejoice that He is faithfully completing what He began in you. Thank God for the miracle of the new birth, and thank Him that He is not finished with us yet.
