Victory In Christ

Why do you love and serve God and His Son, Jesus Christ? Many people serve God because of what He gives rather than because of Who He is. They love His gifts more than the Giver and seek His presents more than His presence. Ask yourself: Do you desire His presents or His presence? Most Christians quickly say, “I love the Lord.” But why? Is it because He saved you, healed you, filled you with His Spirit, or blessed your life? While these are wonderful expressions of His grace, they are not the deepest reason to love Him. If our love depends primarily on what God does for us, our hearts are centered on His gifts rather than on God Himself. He is worthy of our love simply because He is God.

Many believers around the world faithfully follow Christ through persecution, imprisonment, and even death. Their devotion is rooted not in what God gives, but in Who He is.

May this be the confession of every believer: I love His presence more than His presents. I love the Giver more than His gifts. I love the God of the promise more than the promise. I love the God of heaven more than heaven itself. I love the God of the Bible more than the Bible, because the Scriptures lead me to Him.

This is one of the foundational principles of victorious Christian living.
