Until we believers can say with assurance: “Let me tell you what God thinks about this or that!” We probably do not yet have the Mind of Christ— the very way God thinks. We can’t simply change our behavior. We must learn to think God’s thoughts. By nature, we view life through human reasoning, emotions, and circumstances, but God calls us to exchange our thinking for His.
The Lord declares, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways… For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” ~~ Isaiah 55:8–9.
As our minds are renewed by His Word, we begin to see life from heaven’s perspective instead of earth’s.
Paul therefore exhorts us, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” ~~ Philippians 2:5. Jesus thought His Father’s thoughts, spoke the Father’s words, and did the Father’s works.
Men judge by what they see, but God sees the end from the beginning. As we walk with Christ and yield to the Holy Spirit, His perspective increasingly becomes our own. Faith grows as we stop asking, “What do I think?” and begin asking, “What does the Lord say?” We as mature believers actually recognize how God thinks about a situation — how Jesus would respond. It’s like the old wrist bands asked: WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
Jesus: Let us see every circumstance through Your eyes: Give us Your wisdom, promises, and purposes. Amen.
