Victory In Christ

Many read Jesus’ parable of the friend at midnight (Luke 11:5–10) as if God is like the reluctant, sleepy neighbor who must be persuaded by endless pleading. But that’s NOT Jesus’ point. The neighbor responds because of persistence. Then Jesus immediately CONTRASTS that picture with our heavenly Father: “Ask, and it WILL BE GIVEN to you; seek, and YOU WILL FIND; knock, and the door WILL BE OPENED to you. For everyone who asks receives…”

Our Father doesn’t answer because we finally wear Him down. He answers because He is a loving Father. He delights to hear His children and to give what is good— not for our persistence’s sake, but for His own loving nature.

Jesus continues by reminding us that even earthly fathers don’t give harmful gifts to their children. How much more will our heavenly Father generously give good things to those who ask Him!

The prayer of faith doesn’t strive to convince God to care. It rests in the assurance that He already does. Faith quiets the heart because it knows the Father’s love is the reason He hears and answers.

“Ask… seek… knock… Read this passage now again ESPECIALLY in light of verse 10; For everyone who asks receives.” ~~ Luke 11:9–10. End of story.

People may finally do what you ask because of your persistence in asking:

“I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him the bread because of friendship, yet because of his persistence he will certainly get up and give him as much as he needs. And I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” ~~ Luke 11:8-10.  (TPT)
