Abide In Christ

I am so grateful for the scriptures that tell us that we can and must abide in Christ. What exactly does that mean though, you might be asking?

Abiding in Christ means allowing God’s Word to fill our minds, direct our wills, and transform our affections. It means allowing His Holy Spirit and His Word to live BIG within us. To abide means to dwell and to stay in the presence of God. He has already given us a welcome, therefore, we have boldness to live in  His presence — worshiping Him, praising Him, and living for Him.  To abide also means to be obedient.

John 14: 23-24 gives us Jesus‘ words: “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”That is abiding. We are in Him and Christ is in us.

1 Corinthians 13:13: “now faith, hope, and love; these three abide in you.”

John 25:4-5: “Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. The branch cannot itself produce fruit, unless it abides on the vine. Likewise, you cannot produce fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing.”

We draw our sustenance from the Lord, the same way, leaves and fruit are only able to grow when they stay connected to the branch. I am so thankful that God loves us that much individually and offers us the privilege to stay connected to Him. we draw our very life force from God, and we exist to do His will.
