Expectations

When we believers pray or do good deeds, we are planting seeds. And we often think that God is obligated to answer our prayers or that there would be a harvest on our seed sown on our timetable and in the way we expected, but the Bible gives us some wisdom and knowledge concerning our prayer life, seed sowing, and our expectations.

In Galatians 6:9 we find this admonition: “So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up.”

Our job as believers is to know that when we plant a seed of any kind — whether it be a prayer of faith or financial gift or a good deed, we can trust that God will see it to it that over time, He will nurture it. Then as we continue to trust Him, the answer will come and we will reap the harvest.

A farmer will not reap a harvest unless he has planted the seed. And in doing so he has faith that after planting and watering, time passing, growth happening, then in due season, he WILL receive the harvest. The key is to trust, to have patience, and continue to expect the answer to come.  But if no seeds are being planted, how can he or we expect a harvest?

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest … shall not cease” ~~ Genesis 8:22.

“God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won't stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.” ~~ Philippians 1:6.

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me” ~~ Psalms 138:8a.
