Even the world knows that Christians are expected to love others. Love is our assignment from the Lord. We are to walk in His agapé love that the dictionary describes as “the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for [human beings] and of [human beings] for God.”

But none of us can walk in this kind of love for others in our own strength. We can only fulfill God’s plan for us to love other people with His supreme kind of love when we submit ourselves to Him and allow Jesus to fill us with His Spirit. For “God is love” according to 1 John 4:8.

Agape love is the sacrificial love that unites and heals people restoring relationships.

C. S. Lewis put it this way: “Agapé love requires faithfulness, commitment, and sacrifice without expecting anything in return.”

Jesus commanded us to “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” ~~ John 13:34-35.

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” ~~ 1 John 4:7.
